Avocado oil

« Back to Glossary Index

Avocado oil is a nourishing plant oil extracted from the pulp of the avocado fruit (Persea americana). Rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, it is widely used in skincare for its deep moisturizing, soothing, and reparative properties. Its high content of oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat, allows it to penetrate deeply into the skin, providing long-lasting hydration and improving skin barrier function.

This nutrient-dense oil contains vitamins A, D, and E, which help protect the skin from oxidative stress and environmental damage while promoting cell regeneration. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it particularly beneficial for dry, sensitive, or irritated skin, as it helps to soothe conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and redness. Additionally, avocado oil supports collagen production and enhances wound healing, making it a valuable ingredient for maintaining skin elasticity and overall health.

Due to its emollient nature, avocado oil is commonly found in creams, serums, facial oils, and body lotions. It is well-suited for dry and mature skin types but can also be used in formulations designed for sensitive or compromised skin. Lightweight yet deeply hydrating, avocado oil helps improve skin texture, softness, and resilience with regular use.
